Write with Pride Workshop: We’re Here 2 Have A Ball

Join us for this interactive and exploratory workshop that analyzes Queer terminology and black queer culture while offering attendees a deeper diver in the queer framework. Attendees will also gain gems centered around the importance of queer stories and arts making, being in control of their personal narratives, and using art as a tool for healing and resistance. This writing workshop will be facilitated by Darius Parker.

Darius Rashad Parker, popularly known as “Halle Berry Dari”, is a Queer Black Scholar, Activist, Poet, and Performer based in Chicago, IL. Darius is a graduate of Northern Illinois University where he received a BA in Journalism and a minor in Black Studies. He has been a member of the Kuumba Lynx Performance Ensemble since 2005, and has performed in a multitude of plays and has toured performances across the world and currently serves as the organization’s Director of Operations. Darius is a lover of all things art, black, Chicago and queer, Now the head of his own performance Haus (#HausOfBerry) and veteran slam poet and Teaching Artist, Darius hopes to empower youth through the arts and to make any experience involving youth, art, and poetry one infused with love liberation and truth. Darius received his Masters in Critical Ethnic Studies from DePaul University in the Spring of 2020 and is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Delta Phi Delta Dance Fraternity Inc.
