Power of the Pen is a poetry and writer workshop where participants interested in developing their poetry, spoken word, or rapping abilities grow their skills. This workshop features but is not limited to: discussion around culture and poetry, writing prompts, writing time, and performance practice. Whether you are already a poet or have never written anything that wasn’t assigned at school, Power of the Pen shows how writing and speaking your truth changes the life opportunities available to you. Youth interested in performing with Southern Word at feature events should participate in this series. This will be a hybrid program which you can attend in-person at Studio NPL in the Nashville Public Library or virtually. Open to youth ages 13 to 19.

This workshop series is a partnership between Southern Word and the Nashville Public Library’s Studio NPL.
