NSA Winter Celebration of Writing

Saran “S-Wrap” Thompson is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Martin Luther King Academic Magnet in Nashville. Saran has been rapping since he was 11 years old and emerged as a member of MTSU’s WordUP, performing at music venues around Murfreesboro. Saran spent a year abroad in Japan where he not only learned the culture but learned to rap in Japanese by collaborating with HERC and CZ Tyga. Saran was selected to participate in the Arts and Business Council’s Periscope Artist Entrepreneur program. He also received a THRIVE grant
from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission to produce a short film capturing the emergence of his new album Wordsmith. He will be touring in Uganda for the second time this Fall as part of the I Know Concert Series to raise awareness around HIV.
