Write with Pride Workshop | Coping with Comic | Zine Challenge #1

Join the Write with Pride Coordinator Taria Person for the first workshop of the year!

For this workshop, you will have the opportunity to create your own mini comics; the first of a five part series beginning with Tanka poems. In this zine challenge, participants will be presented with various genres of writing, learn about book binding, and self-publish their own work.

Write with Pride aims to create safe, supportive spaces where Middle Tennessee LGBT+ youth can write and share to process experiences, shape identity, and build community as they come of age; equip Middle Tennessee LGBT+ youth with the skills to represent their experiences and advocate for themselves through public presentations at events, open mics, and conferences; and host an annual conference centered around writing and sharing where they can build community, celebrate their lives, and learn from each other and leaders in the field of LGBT+ youth development.

In addition to being a regional Spoken Word and Hip-Hop Slam Champion, Taria is an actress, poetry book author, and visual artist. They are a graduate of Maplewood High School and the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.

As always, our goal is to build a safe space, community, connection, and new possibilities through writing and sharing.
